Distex Armchairs by Gio Ponti for Altamira in Velvet, 1950
Height: 80 cm Width: 90 cm Depth: 90 cm Seat Height: 35 c
Elegant pair of Distex armchairs designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti for the fine Italian manufacturer Altamira. The armchairs are wonderfully rare and their original fabric has been refreshed and upholstered in a beautiful sand-colored velvet. The armchairs have a walnut wood frame, supported by 4 cylindrical diagonal pin feet that support the body of the seat. The armchair has a backrest that is very tilted backward from the norm, designed to provide the guest with absolute comfort and unique rest. The seat is very deep and is framed by two trapezoidal armrests with softly padded edges. Each armrest reaches up to the middle of the backrest. As mentioned above, the backrest is set very far back and has a rectangular shape with slightly protruding ears. This pair of armchairs is not only a great piece of furniture, but can also be used as a design highlight to add to a sophisticated and classy environment.
