Tripolina Folding Chair by Viganò in Leather and Teak, 1970
Height: 108 cm Width: 70 cm Depth: 80 cm Seat Height: 40 cm
This folding chair by Viganò is based on the prototypes of folding chairs created in the 19th century by J.B. Fendy, who in turn was inspired by traditional Berber chairs. The Tripolina chair was made before the Second World War by the company from Vigano` in Tripoli, Libya, for the Italian market abroad as a camping chair of great stability in sand and made of local wood and leather.
This first folding chair of the end of the 19th century, 1881, inspired many designers, of which the best known example is the 'Butterfly chair'.
The structure of this pair of chairs is in a completely original condition and has a beautiful patina.
